Provence Promotion, the economic development agency of the Bouches-du-Rhône, was created by the Marseille-Provence Chamber of Commerce & Industry and the Conseil Général (Departement Council) to assist, free of charge, both French and foreign companies relocate in the region.

Pierre Distinguin, 47, currently holds the position of International Director at Provence Promotion, the leading Economic Development Agency in Southern Europe. After getting a Master degree in Finance and a MBA from the University of San Francisco, Pierre Distinguin started his career in Paris in the French Business Bank “WORMS BANK”. He joined the auditing firm ERNST & YOUNG in 1988 and stayed there until 1991. Then he moved to the USA. After a significant experience in the USA in Sacramento, CA, as Foreign Investment Specialist at the California Trade & Commerce Agency, he moved back to France firstly to Amiens Regional Council and in 1997 he joined the Chamber of Commerce of Marseille as Director of Prospecting. He continued his career at Provence Promotion. During these years, Provence Promotion got 3 titles of the Most efficient Agency in France. Moreover, Provence Promotion is often described as one of the most Innovative Agencies in Europe thanks to several famous marketing programs, cf. “Home Sweet Home” (it got a “Best program for entrepreneurs” award in 2005, by a jury of French economic journalists), “Go Between” (2007), “Provence Premium” (2010), the first program in France for the world leading companies.

Stéphane GHIO, 40, currently holds the position of IT business development Manager at Provence Promotion, the leading Economic Development Agency in Southern Europe. After getting a PHD in industrial economics and economy of innovation from the University Paul Cezanne (Aix Marseille III), Stéphane started his career as Research fellow within the Centre for Economic Policy Research (CEPR) from the London School of Economics and the University of Modena (Italy). He joined the Business and Innovation Centre “TVT Innovation'” in 2001 and stayed there during 4 years. After a significant experience as Business development Manager in a start-up, specialized in electronic security, and as international business development director in a French group specialized in system engineering, he joined beginning of 2010 Provence Promotion to work on the attractiveness of inward / Foreign direct investments in the field of Microelectronics, smart objects, contactless technologies.
