Launched over a decade ago, Euroméditerranee is a 7 billion € operation – supported by the French government, the local authorities and the European Union – redeveloping a 480 hectares site in the heart of the city to boost Marseille as an attractive and influential hub connecting Europe and the Mediterranean. Euromediterranee runs infrastructure and public spaces, as well as offices, housing, businesses, hotels, cultural and leisure facilities projects.
Euromediterranee, as a business cluster, covers 500,000 m2 of office space and brings together about 35,000 jobs. Labelised as “Eco city” by the French government, Euromediterranee invents a Mediterranean model of sustainable development. Euroméditerranée and all of its partners, including Provence Promotion the economic development agency, have strongly supported innovation as a key success factor for job creation and “Eco-city” ambition (creation of incubators, growth of ICT companies, production of renewable energy, low carbon transports, smart grids, participation of citizens in decision making…).
